Why does your company need corporate eyecare?
In 1992 Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations were introduced to improve conditions for all employees who work with Visual Display Units (VDUs) and who require safety glasses.
What does this mean for your business?
The welfare of your employees’ eyesight is your responsibility. Michael james Opticians can ensure that your legal requirements are met, whilst offering a benefit that many employees value highly as part of their employee benefits scheme. Your company is obliged to provide the following for employees who regularly use VDU (computer) screens at work:
- An eye screening assessment (Many companies provide full eye examinations)
- Subsequent eye screenings at regular intervals as specified by the examining Optometrist (normally every 2 years)
- Basic VDU glasses (this could mean single vision, bifocal or varifocal glasses) if they are found necessary for VDU work and / or
- Basic safety glasses (this could mean single vision, bifocal or varifocal glasses) if they were found necessary for work undertaken.
